Property Tips
When buying in Scotland:
In Scotland, all those interested in buying a certain property submit their offers in sealed envelopes to the vendors solicitor. When all offers have been received the vendor opens them in the presence of the solicitor and selects the successful buyer. If your offer is accepted, you are then committed to buy and the vendor is committed to sell you the property and the agreed price. The equivalent of 'exchanging contracts' in England.
